1) Did you take part in Neath Port Talbot's previous on-line active travel engagement in 2020/2021?

Yes

2) Are we correct in our assessment of routes that already meet the agreed standards (existing routes)?

No

2a) If no, which route assessments do you think are incorrect and why.

Existing routes are good and we are very lucky in Cwmavon, but they are far from perfect. For example the Caeglas estate could easily be connected to the existing NCN 887 using the roadway between numbers 71 and 73. This would provide a safe car free route to school, and village amenities. Similarly the proposed FR-CWM-SU006 should be linked to the end of Hawthorne Close and Ynys Lee and Caerhendy without having to use Ynysygwas hill.

3) Do you think the network of proposed (future) routes shown on this map will encourage you to walk/cycle more for everyday journeys?

Yes

4) Do you think there are routes missing from the map that would help you make every-day active travel journeys?

Yes

4a) If you answered yes to question 4, please provide more details.

As noted above, some small additions to existing and proposed routes would help link areas of housing to local amenities. These links would help make walking and cycling an attractive alternative to short car journeys in the village.

5) Do you have any additional comments regarding cycling and walking facilities or active travel policy that you would like Neath Port Talbot Council to consider?

Please think carefully about whether we should be putting barriers , posts, and bollards in paths intended for cycling. Although experienced cyclists can negotiate them easily, they can deter less experienced cyclists, tandems, cargo bikes, and bikes adapted for disabled riders. Paths for walking and cycling require ongoing maintenance so please budget for this too.

There is no legend that i can identify to assess if footpaths or cycle paths are correct.

I walk and cycle regularly but i cannot decipher this map there is no legend or explanation. This is a disappointment I have attempted to support safe travel in this area but this survey does not help anyone. What a wasted opportunity and how much money has been wasted providing this survey which is desperately needed to improve our area.

4) Do you think there are routes missing from the map that would help you make every-day active travel journeys?

I cannot see what is and isn’t a current route or any suggested new route.

I have plenty to say, i use my bike to commute from Baglan to outside the area and walk regularly within the borough but this interactive survey is anything but interactive.
